Impacting SDGs
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is an action plan for people, planet, and prosperity, with 17 sustainable development goals at its heart (SDGs). The Sustainable Development Goals are an urgent call to action for all nations around the world. These 17 objectives are integrated to balance the three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental.
The question is why FloCard, which appears to be just another digital business card, and how FloCard's acceptance could enable individuals, institutions, governments, and businesses to achieve all 17 SDGs. Here is the answer.
Each year, 100 billion business cards are printed worldwide, resulting in the logging of around 6 million trees. Furthermore, approximately 90% of all business cards are discarded within a week of receipt. That entails chopping down 5.4 million trees for the sole purpose of throwing them away. FloCard is on a quest to prevent those 6 million trees from being felled for no reason. It's not an attempt to reimagine the business card, but rather the earth as it once was. We strongly encourage you to begin using FloCard right away.
Whenever a FloCard is created or exchanged, we:
Goal 1: No Poverty
Unemployment, social isolation, and the increased vulnerability of particular segment of people to disasters, diseases, and other phenomena are all causes of poverty. According to estimates, the covid 19 pandemic will put another 71 million people into poverty. It's critical to be concerned about other people's financial situations since our well-being as humans is intertwined. The foundations of the sustainable development goals are being eroded by rising inequality. Everyone's active participation can make a difference in the fight against poverty.
Goal 2: Zero Hunger
840 million people are expected to go hungry by 2030, according to estimates. Around 2 billion people do not have consistent access to food. Hunger stifles human development and puts a strain on long-term development goals. Food security will necessitate a multi-faceted and inclusive approach.
Goal 3: Good Health & Wellbeing
The foundation of flourishing society is healthy living and well-being. To attain universal health coverage by 2030, we will need an additional 18 million health personnel. Essential health services cover roughly one-third to half of the world's population. Even basic healthcare is not available to the last mile in many regions. As healthy people are the foundation of a thriving economy, we must begin making informed choices for healthy living.
Goal 4: Quality Education
Education fosters gender equality while allowing for upward social mobility. Education that is both inclusive and of high quality is essential for escaping poverty. By April 2020, about 1.6 billion children and teens had dropped out of school. The pandemic has only made things worse. The campaign aims to bridge the digital divide between under-connected and digitalized countries while also raising awareness of the importance of education.
Goal 5: Gender Equality
Women and girls represent half of the world's potential. However, our societal progress has slowed as a result of gender inequality. Gender equality is a basic human right as well as a prerequisite for a thriving society. The campaign's goal is to raise awareness about changemakers, encourage others to follow in their footsteps, promote healthy relationships, and celebrate gender equality.
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
Around 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water around the world, with 785 million lacking basic drinking water. To minimise climate change, prevent death from diseases like malaria and diarrhoea, protect biodiversity, and ensure food security, sustainable water and sanitation sources must be managed. The campaign's goal is to raise awareness about the roles that everyone can play in water management while holding the government accountable for water resource management.
Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
Around the world, 789 million people do not have access to electricity. This summer in India, the situation has simply gotten worse for many more people. Energy that is affordable, reliable, and sustainable is critical to the economy and its sectors. The campaign's goal is to encourage companies to take proactive steps toward ecosystem restoration.
Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Economic growth is based on education, employment, and respectable labour. Sustained economic growth translates to higher living standards and more opportunities. The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness about the value of investing in education, training, skilling, and gainful employment.
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
The key to achieving economic growth, social development, and climate action is industrialization, which is backed by innovation and infrastructure. The initiative attempts to foster a collaborative and innovative culture in order to maximise resource efficiency.
Goal 10: Reduced Inequality
Inequality, in whatever form, jeopardises long-term social and economic growth, encourages poverty, and robs people of their sense of accomplishment. Inequality generates criminality, sickness, and environmental damage. A better world can only be reached if no one is denied the opportunity for a better tomorrow. To achieve radical change, the campaign will focus on political, economic, and social measures.
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities
9 out of 10 individuals in urban areas around the world breathe air that does not meet WHO air quality standards. Cities account for 60-80 percent of energy consumption and 75 percent of carbon emissions despite occupying only 3% of the Earth's territory. The effort is dedicated to make cities more environmentally friendly and improving air quality. Its goal is to improve the community's living conditions
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption & Production
By cutting production costs and boosting the efficiency of food systems, reducing food loss and waste can help to ensure environmental sustainability. We are polluting water faster than can be recycled. Our material footprint is constantly increasing. The campaign spreads awareness about reducing food waste and choosing sustainable alternatives.
Goal 13: Climate Action
Starting in 2020, our GHG emissions must decrease by 7.6% per year to meet the 1.5°C objective. Wildfires, hurricanes, droughts, floods, and other disasters are becoming more common as the Earth's climate changes faster than expected. If nothing is done, climate change will cause far more damage to everything than anyone could have predicted. The better planet together campaign is focused on boosting efforts to combat climate change.
Goal 14: Life Below Water
The livelihood of over 3 billion people is dependent on marine and coastal biodiversity. The oceans absorb over 23% of the CO2 produced annually by human activity. The amount of garbage entering oceans is steadily growing, resulting in billions of dollars in losses. The better planet together campaign is aimed at preserving and restoring biodiversity.
Goal 15: Life on Land
On Earth, 2 billion hectares of land have been degraded, affecting 3.2 billion people. We are losing top soil at a rate that may render our land unfit for agricultural in the next 45-50 years, resulting in food scarcity. Around 400 square miles of rain forest were cut down in Brazil in April 2022 to make way for agriculture. Every year, almost two million people die from neglected zoonotic illnesses like Covid 19, primarily in low- and middle-income countries. Through a variety of initiatives, the Better Planet Together campaign aims to improve life on land.
Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
Despite international law's protections, 100 civilians are killed every day in armed conflicts, including women and children. Economic progress is harmed by violence and insecurity, which often leads to long-standing grievances among communities. The campaign will focus on values that promote inclusiveness and build the groundwork for everyone to live a dignified life.
Goal 17: Partnerships
SDG 2030's success is dependent on strong international cooperation among individuals, organisations, governments, and businesses. The #BetterPlanetTogether campaign is intended to assist each of these organisations in amplifying their efforts toward the common aims.
